Because it takes a village!
At The Sherman Oaks Nursery School (TSONS), community and belonging are at the heart of everything we do. They are foundational to our school’s identity and philosophy. This strong sense of connection nurtures not only children’s cognitive, physical, and emotional growth, but also supports their social development as they engage meaningfully with peers, teachers, and parents.
Our community extends beyond the classroom—it’s a place where families build friendships, support one another, and share in the joy of childhood. Whether chatting at drop-off, attending classroom celebrations, or joining our school-wide events, TSONS families quickly discover they are part of something special: an extended family where everyone belongs.

Seasonal Gatherings
Night Owls
A beloved twice-yearly event where children (and parents who wish!) come to school in pajamas for an evening of play, socializing, and delicious bites from local food and dessert truck
Whether visiting a pumpkin patch or a tree farm, our families love celebrating the changing seasons together. These events are filled with outdoor fun, carnival games, and plenty of laughter creating wonderful moments that bring our community closer year after year.
Classroom Parties
Throughout the year, classes celebrate different holidays with parties organized by parent volunteers. Families are encouraged to share their cultural traditions, enriching the classroom experience for all.
Parades
Parent Education Meetings
Families gather in the morning to socialize over coffee and sweet treats before cheering on the children during our festive parades. Whether it’s Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day, or the Fourth of July, these joyful celebrations are full of smiles, photos, and memories that last a lifetime.
Annual Spring Gala
Our adults-only Spring Gala is the highlight of the year. It is a festive evening of dining, dancing, and fundraising, featuring live and silent auctions.
Party Book Events
Volunteering
Hosted by current families throughout the year, these themed gatherings raise funds for the school while offering fun opportunities to connect—some for the whole family, others just for adults.
Looking to get involved? Join one of our many volunteer opportunities. Our committees are a wonderful way to meet other parents and make a meaningful impact in our school community. Whether you’re helping with events, supporting classroom activities, joining our give-back initiatives, or serving on the Board of Directors, there are countless ways to contribute and make a difference in your child’s school experience.
In our commitment to fostering community and supporting families, we offer evening sessions led by specialists in Early Childhood Development. These gatherings provide parents with valuable insights, tools, and perspectives to better understand and nurture their children’s growth.
